The Worlds has come and gone, and we had great fun. Alasdair raced like a champ and even got onto PinkBike. Conrad worked for the New Zealand federation team and met some great new friends. Other than all the racing and fun, it was also great to be part of the atmosphere when Greg Minnaar won his second WC title in a row, and on home soil.

WOW! It’s been a seriously long time since I wrote a blog post and so much has happened. Sorry for the lack of posts, but things have been crazy. I got retrenched, have been starting new things and life has been pretty hectic.

First the job thing: Velo Life and I just didn’t seem to see eye to eye, so when it came time to tighten the belt there, they chose to let me go. I am not entirely happy, but not to un-happy either. I needed to change things and this it just the push I needed to get out and do things on my on. And to focus on Team Sputnik Corporation. So all in all its a good thing.

So 2013 is now well underway and the year’s race season has begun. The first weekend of February had a full calendar with an invitational race in Cape Town and the first round of the KZN mountain bike cup, both taking place. Which to do?

Well, it’s here already: 2013 and a whole season of sweet down hill racing. In just two weeks time, we will be racing the first provincial here in KZN and a week later, the first National Cup race of the season in Cape Town.

So it’s been a bit slow as far as racing goes this last while, although I have spent quite a bit of time on my bike. I have to say that between getting things ready for our new arrival and trying to get a new section built on the DH track in the back yard, I really haven’t been very focused on racing my bikes. But a few months back, the friend that I rode last year’s sort Ama Shova with convinced me to enter the 106km race for this year.
