Wow! It’s been a year since I wrote a blog post and the last one was about the last DH Cup in Thale.
As usual Thale (The Rosstrappen Downhill track) was lots of fun, but this year it was made much more fun, because I had two South African along with me. Jono and Chris Philogene has been travelling in Europe for about a month, racing a World Cup, World Champs and the final round of the iXS Euro Cup in Leogang. Their final stop was with us in Hahnenklee Germany and the final round of the iXS German Cup.We picked the guys up in Goslar, at the train station and head out for pizza and beer (proper athlete’s food) before heading back to rest up for the weekend’s racing in Thale. Friday morning, breakfast, drive, register and then track walk. Not much had changed from the previous year, on the top half of the course, but the lower half was very different!
Instead of the steep windy decent to the finish area, the trail headed along the ridge and to a short up hill (glad I brought my #Enduro bike). Then a new technical decent and a 300 meter pedal fest to the finish. The new section was build to avoid the construction happening in the old finish area, but it added a much needed challenge to the track. The old trail was a bit to easy, and adding a bit more peddling and some loose corners definitely made it way more interesting.
